Standard Electric Continue Growth to Western Wisconsin
SE Automation, part of Standard Electric Supply Co. family of businesses, is continuing to experience substantial growth with the opening of an Eau Claire, WI location.

"The new office is located at 4611 Anderson Drive in the Chippewa Valley Industrial Park.  Remodeling began in late May, and we are currently fully operational," said Mike Ubl, General Manager.

This new facility is a combined effort between both Standard Electric and SE Automation and is a result of new partnerships with key suppliers.

"Our Eau Claire location will focus on Siemens control, automation and drive products.  In addition, we will stock complimentary products from companies such as Rittal Enclosures, Hubbell Wiring Devices, Brady, Appleton Electric, Red Lion, Woodhead, Thomas & Betts and several others," said Ubl.

SE Automation's continued growth includes the hiring of several associates to ensure all customers receive top-quality support.

"When we opened in 2004, SE Automation consisted of two application engineers.  Now, in 2007 our staff has grown to nine people, including four application engineers, two account managers and three customer service specialists," said Mike Ubl, General Manager.

Specifically, SE Automation has hired Tim Kivi as the primary account manager for the new Western Wisconsin territory and Susan Simons as the inside sales support and logistics specialist.

Behind Tim and Susan is our team of dedicated engineers and application specialists around the state who are chartered with supporting the efforts in this new territory," said Ubl.

SE Automation thanks its existing customers for continued support and are anxious to begin meeting new customers "out West" and introducing them to the Standard Electric family and their high level of service and quality products.

We will provide the same unique training, and other services that has made SE Automation and Standard Electric leaders in the automation distribution market," said Ubl.

Standard Electric awarded Mid-Market Growth Award from the Milwaukee Business Journal
Standard Electric Supply Co. was honored by the Milwaukee Business Journal as one of the recipients of its annual Mid-Market Growth Awards. The Mid-Market Growth Awards honor companies that have experienced substantial revenue growth over the past three years.

In 1989, when Larry Stern, President, joined the company, Standard Electric produced annual sales of $13 million, from one location located in Milwaukee. In 2005, Standard Electric generated sales approaching $60 million and had expanded its service area to nine locations in Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. In the last three years, Standard Electric has produced a 37 percent growth in sales. "When I came to the company I wanted to bring us a focus, I knew that we could not be all things to all customers," Stern said.

Standard Electric focuses almost exclusively on customers in the industrial sector. This has allowed Standard Electric to gain the knowledge of customers' needs and wants, and has facilitated the expansion of the company's services to its customers.

"Our focus on industrial customers is a major reason we've grown. We identified our customers' needs for  technical support and now have a staff of more than 15 engineers compared to one in 1989," Stern said. In addition, to developing an insight into their customers' ever-changing needs, Stern attributes the company's commitment to superior customer service as a factor in their growth.

"We have tried to create an environment in which our associates believe service is a differentiator.  We've built continuous improvement into our culture," Stern said.

Stern believes that there are still plenty of opportunities in their market to continue growth, and looks forward to continuing to meet and exceed customer expectations.
